I’m a big believer in artists, designers, crafters and makers working collaboratively. I don’t mean making team artwork as such, but more sharing ideas, inspiration and helping to share each other’s work. That’s why I really enjoy being part of the collective ‘Made in Colchester’.
Made in Colchester is a group of local artists and makers who all create work within a Colchester postcode. We have been a collective now for almost two years and meet once a month to share ideas and plan events. There are about 10 core members who have an active role in organising events and running the group’s promotion, and a growing number of associate members who take part in our fairs with us.
One of our main events is our fairs held at Colchester Arts Centre. We run about two of these big fairs per year. Our Arts Centre fairs are fun both as a stall holder and visitor as we not only have a huge range of locally made items for sale, but also a cafe with homemade food, acoustic sets from lots of local musicians and free craft workshops to take part in too. We really try to provide a full day out for everyone!
This week Made in Colchester is having it’s very first market stall on Colchester High Street. We will have our goods for sale this Saturday, 29th October, from 9am. If you’re in Colchester then come and say hello.

Our next fair is in December at Colchester Arts Centre and should be our biggest and most festive yet!
